Who We Are in Christ Jesus

[God] raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. —Ephesians 1:20-21

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for us and His resurrection from the dead, God elevated Christ to an all-powerful position at God’s right hand, now and for eternity.

Now, are you ready for the incredibly amazing part? According to the Bible, where is our standing with our Father God? Notice the incredible answer in the next chapter:

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. (Eph. 2:6)

Incredible! We are seated now at the right hand of God with His Son, Jesus Christ, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is named… all through Christ, of course.

If this is true, why then do we Christians so often feel defeated in our daily lives? It’s because we have not understood who we are in Christ and what mighty authority we have now over evil spirits, sin, wickedness, and every disease. Without this fundamental understanding, we open the door to our own defeat by Satan, sin, and sickness.

I pray today that you will realize and use the authority you have in Christ over the names of Temptation, Sin, and Sickness. I pray you are invigorated to new heights in your walk with God.

Set a captive of Satan free today in Jesus’ mighty Name! You have this authority and responsibility in Christ. Now, act on your authority today through faith in Jesus’ mighty Name.
