How To Increase Your Faith

Each exercise of our faith leads us to a greater challenge. God will steadily grow our faith provided we let Him and follow His lead in our lives.

Here is an example from Scripture:

Then the Lord said to [Moses], “What is that in your hand?”

“A staff,” he replied.

The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.”
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.”

So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. Exod. 4:2-4

To throw the staff down because God said so took only a little faith. However, to pick the staff back up because God said so took a lot more faith because the staff was a snake at that moment. Nevertheless, Moses was able to do so because the first small exercise of his faith prepared him for the next, larger exercise of his faith.

God will do the same for us in our lives if we will let Him. At every step, especially the first step, we have a choice to make. We must exercise the little faith we have in order to receive more faith. If you won’t or don’t exercise the small amount of faith you already have, you risk losing even that.

This godly principle of “use it or lose it” is illustrated in Jesus’ Parable of the Talents. The servant equipped with only one talent had it taken away from him because he failed to use it wisely:

For whoever has will be given more, and they will have abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from themMatt. 25:29

I agree that this may seem harsh. Nevertheless, this is a divine principle for our own good that none of us can alter or escape.

As the saying goes, “use it or lose it.” Allow God to grow your faith today by using it in Jesus’ Name!
